Your tour begins with a morning pickup from your hotel in Addis Ababa. As you depart the busy capital, the landscape transitions into rolling hills, eucalyptus groves, and local villages. The drive to Menagesha Forest (approx. 30 km) takes about 1 hour, depending on traffic and road conditions.
Along the way, your guide will provide an introduction to the region’s cultural and ecological importance. The drive is scenic, passing through Sululta Plains—a great place to spot traditional cattle herders and rural life.

Guided Nature Hike in Menagesha Suba Forest
On arrival, you’ll be welcomed at the forest entrance by local eco-guides. Menagesha Suba Forest is one of the oldest protected natural areas in Africa, originally established during the reign of Emperor Zera Yacob in the 15th century.
During your 2.5 to 3-hour guided hike, you’ll explore dense indigenous forest filled with Giant juniper trees, Giant lobelia, heather, and Giant ragweed. Some trees are over 400 years old. The trail offers moderate climbs and shaded paths—perfect for nature lovers and birdwatchers.

Lunch Break at a Local Restaurant or Picnic
Enjoy a leisurely lunch. Depending on your preference, your guide can take you to a nearby traditional Ethiopian restaurant or prepare a picnic lunch in a shaded forest area.

Return to Addis Ababa
With your heart full and spirit refreshed, begin the drive back to Addis Ababa. The return trip offers another chance to enjoy the countryside views. You’ll arrive back in the city around 3:30 PM, with drop-off at your hotel or designated point.
